Hands down the best Godzilla movie. It shows the US turned Godzilla into a one dimensional, cotton candy piece. This crushes the Kong/Godzilla film and at a DRAMATICALLY less cost.

This comment goes on a bit but I promise it is relevent to the episode ont two diferent counts. Don't know if anyone's brought this up yet but there are extensive Doctor Who audio dramas by Big Finish. They started making them a few years before the reboot and they really threw some strange ideas at the wall. The audio dramas are now considered *canon* (as long they don't contradict the tv series). I bring all of this up because a) they did quite a few Sarah Jane stories. And b) Anthony Stewart Head appeared in a four part series called Excellis which involved him meeting three iterations of the Doctor (all performed by the original actors)

The Master has been a reoccurring evil Time Lord character since the third Doctor.

Hooray! James Marsters is simply fabulous. Though best known as Spike (I mean, of course, Spike was a delight), he's popped up in any number of fantasy/science fiction shows over the years. MY favourite role of his though, is the narrator of the book series The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. If anyone is interested in a modern day world detective wizard's (he's even in the yellow pages) adventures, I can highly recommend listening to the audio books. Thanks Chris!

Things I liked about Torchwood series 2 was a good storyline and the characters where better and well developed. I felt the story really began here.

If you ever watch this again, I'd suggest hooking up a half-decent sound system. When HAL lights up the Discovery's engines for the escape, the base notes will rattle your brain and your lungs.

I went to my Aunt Margaret’s funeral yesterday and my older cousin told a few stories during the eulogy. In the late 1950s, his mom was cooking at the stove and her blouse caught on fire. Five year old Stephen didn’t understand when she asked him how to help her. She ripped her top open turned on the cold water and threw the blouse into the sink. It was can emergency of course. We laughed because Aunt Margaret was ladylike and modest.

First; loved everything about this movie. But what I really appreciated was that they avoided the snappy, smartass cliched sitcom dialog that has become so prevalent in so many American movies (not just Godzilla) mostly with the superfluous characters that everyone hates so much. It's like these characters have no point but comic relief and sarcastic trope to the extent that we can't wait to see them die. ("Yeah, let's bring Godzilla in for a beer!" WTLF?) Here, the attempts at humor were minimal and appropriate to the moment, instead of just trying to fill out a script with little to no substance. The other thing was the score. Bringing back the original music was a no-brainer, because for 70 years, the Godzilla theme has been the sound of dread and fear.

As much as I like the free-love angle of Torchwood, they're like the absolute worst workplace. Everyone's literally shagging everyone. Workplace harassment nightmare.

Always loved Spike on Buffy but then I also loved Keifer Sutherland as David in Lost Boys. Don't put a stake in my heart but I think I just have a thing for bleach blond bad boy vampires. Now that bites!

That cold open with the fish in a sports car, and the old lady's response of 'Bloody Torchwood!' was a fantastic way to plunge into series 2. I think this series benefits from the writers not feeling they have to bang on about adult themes at every turn - yes, there are still elements of it, but it doesn't seem to get in the way of the stories this series in the way it did in the first.

Yeah it’s probably best not to think too hard about who is into who else. Everyone wants to bang everyone else at some point in this show lmao

I cry ever time I watch this episode. Roslyn’s death never gets easier. Now, when you think of the colonist brought their gods with them, which would’ve been the Greek gods, and then Adam built his home on top of that hill like Zeus.

This movie is tremendous and brilliant. I cannot think of better words. I grew up watching Godzilla and this right here is the best Godzilla movie I've seen. I love how they reworked the roar too. it's super distorted and almost deeper. The writing, the effects, the casting, the directing....BRILLIANT!!

2010 is a wonderful film. I like 2001 but for me 2010 is my type of movie. That whole monologue by Dr Floyd at the end about the people of two suns meeting the people of before gets me every time (almost as emotional as the end of E.T.). The waterworks..

The other two books are 2061, which follows Haywood Floyd, now extremely old, ends up joining together with the being that was David Bowman and HAL. 3001, incredibly, follows Frank Poole, who is discovered in space and is eventually revived. Clarke made a pretty huge error on this one though, stating that Frank Poole was born in the 1990's. The Jupiter Mission takes place in 2001, and in the book Frank celebrates his 35th birthday. Though I have heard that a film adaptation for 2061 is in the works, but this was several years back, and I have heard nothing more about it.

This movie contains one of the most well done "creepy lines" in movie history. "I was once David Bowman." "I can't accept that identification without proof" "I understand. It is important that you believe me. Look behind you." "You can see in his face he's thinking, "You know, I don't really need proof that badly."

I was born 2 years after 9/11 but it’s because of that day that I never knew my Uncle who was in the North Tower when the first plane hit. After experiencing a world event with similar magnitude as the COVID pandemic, it fascinates me looking back on that event not just because of the family connection, but the sheer scale of the tragedy that you simply can’t comprehend lest you were actually there. A horrible horrible event that should never be recreated, but represented respectfully and unflinchingly by this masterpiece. 💙💙💙

Oh good, you got the good version of the subtitles. Netflix did a hack job on there. Interpretation changed so much of the dialogue and sometimes it doesn’t fit.

The very fact that the Doctor asked to kill… now this is out of character? Let’s watch later the 13th and why we hated so much Chibnall…. ☝️

Im probably the only one that didn't love this movie, it just felt...bland, godzilla barely did anything interesting, the humans were pretty good tho ,better than the monsterverse ones, i liked shin godzilla more, id give minus one a 7.9/10
